Blackberry Muffins

I love blackberries. LOVE them. And this year the wild berries are fabulous! The kids have had a grand time hunting for good ones and filling buckets full. The blackberries are huge, plump, sweet, and not very "seedy". Seriously, they are like the kind you would pay big bucks for in a Whole Foods store! We've eaten them raw by the handfuls, and I've made one pie so far (blackberry pie is one of my favorite fruit pies, although I'm partial to anything in a crust), and a cobbler. The other day I thought I would do something new:

                                                                  Blackberry Muffins!

I found several yummy looking recipes, and ending up trying this one from the "Dozen Flours" blog.
It was good. I can't wait to try a few more recipes and compare. They were fluffy and cake-like, but not very sweet. Which is fine. I don't want my muffins to be too sugary, but these muffins were just begging to be dipped in butter and sugar:

I always listen to my muffins, and these were clearly saying, "We need more butter and sugar!"
And I was happy to oblige.
