Drew's 2nd Birthday

Last night we celebrated Drew's birthday along with his cousin, Katy, who turned 3 recently. They were so cute! However, it was impossible to get a picture of them both looking at the camera at the same time. They were thrilled with their cakes and distracted by all the relatives and friends cheering them on!

The wagon is a gift from Drew's "Grandpop", and he is very happy with it! I'm sure it will be used to haul rocks and sticks and all sorts of little boy things.

Poor little guy-after all the festivities were over he came down with the stomach flu. Today we've been recovering and cuddling together on my bed. I hold his little chubby hand while he drifts off to sleep. It has caused me to pause and remember a day two years ago when he entered this world-during an ice storm!-and we spent time cuddling in bed and getting to know one another. Right after he was born, both my sister and good friend declared that he would have curly hair. I thought they were crazy! How could they tell, anyway? But sure enough, he did end up with cute baby curls.

He has been such a joy to Tom and I.

Edited to add: more pictures of Drew can be found at this blog

  1. What kind of cake did Drew have? I hope that he gets to feeling better!

  2. Re: the adorable curls
That's what you get for thinking we're crazy. :)

  3. Drew is feeling great today! In fact, he's outside right now, bundled against the cold, playing with his new wagon. :)

His birthday dessert was an apple pastry-a slab pie with powdered sugar on top. I chose to make that because he loves fruit...and at the time, only my small upper oven was working and I couldn't bake anything "tall"! This morning Tom replaced the heating element in my lower over so I will finally be able to get back to my bread baking and etc.
